My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant on a Saturday night, prior to prom. The wonderful reputation of the Italian Inn precedes them and has indeed been earned; the food, service, and ambiance were all exceptional. Soft music was continually emanating from the nucleus of the dimly lit dining room; the singing servers never hit a dissonant note. There are small booths that can be closed off, creating a romatic aura. Previous diners sign their names on the seats and walls and leave myriad messages and pictures. The service was indeed speedy and discreet, the employees seem to know that most closed booths contain starry-eyed young kids like us nuzzling and feeding each other chocolate cheesecake (hehe). I had been to the Italian Inn before and had the alfredo primavera, which was divine. No canned sauces here--it tastes of real cream. On Saturday, I had a similar dish--veal tortellini with alfredo sauce, which was also delicious. My beau had linguine and clam sauce--and I even loved *that*, despite the fact that I'm loath to eat much seafood. Both dishes were served hot. Overall, this is a lovely restaurant and you'd be doing your loved ones a favor by bringing them here. |
