My wife and I dined at the Florentine Grille this past Saturday for our anniversary. It was one of the best experiences that we ever had in a restaurant PERIOD... |

Been there many times. Food is always great! The club doesn't impress me though. To me a night club needs to be very large with ceilings a lot higher than 10 feet!! The club would have been a very cool lounge, had they chosen to develop that. |

Last evening (11/16/03)my boyfriend took me to my favorite restaurant for dinner....Florentine Grille. I have been there many times and always looked forward to going back. Last night changed that mindset! We decided to eat in the "smoking" area as my boyfriend smokes. No problem although we sat next to the restrooms and it is so dark we had to keep telling the men/women which was theirs...NO LIGHTS.
We began by ordering our very farovite, the fried calamari in a balsamic and mascarpone cheese sauce. It was awful. It was so vinergary it was almost not edible. Next, we ordered our dinners. He order the special..a tenderloin w/lobster, et al. I order Veal Saltimbocca. His meat was so tough and chewy he could barely eat any of it....I have had veal saltimbocca many times...never a dry, fried veal cutlet w/proscuitto and cheese thrown on top. The side of pasta was also not very enjoyable.
Although the waitress was pleasant, she was not quickly available. Also, when paying bill....she had to go outside to get change from the valets. What is up with that? We ended up with a pocketful of $1 bills. Can't the restaurant make change?
Needless to say....WE WILL NEVER BE BACK. With all the wonderful restaurants in RI...we will give them our business.
Whatever the huge change over is....the Florentine Grille better wake-up or they will be out of business soon. |

I had reservations for 4 at 7:30 at the Florentine Grille. Apon our arrival the hostess said our table wasn't quite ready and it would be about 15 minutes. After not hearing from her in a half hour one of our party went to check to see what was going on. The hostess said we would be the next to be seated and it shouldn't be too long. Well, when it got to 8:30 and no one had come to get us or tell us why the delay I went up to speak to her. I told her we had reservations for 7:30 and it was now 8:30 what was going on. Well no apology was offered and she was dripping with snobbish attitude! As if we should be so lucky to be hanging around waiting for an hour. She never offered an apology or a drink or appetizer etc....NOTHING. Needless to say we got up and left and will never return. There are plenty of excellent restaurants around without the attitude. |

I had the best time at the Florentine Grille, I have been going there every chance I get. I heard it is even going to get better. Rumor has it the is going to be a high class club opening in the fall. I can't wait to have a great meal, and be able to continue the evening downstairs. |
