This is the most wonderful, mouth-watering tomato pie you could ever imagine. I have been to MANY different places trying pizza and tomato pies of the sort.... NOTHING TOPS DeLorenzo's.
I don't live in NJ anymore (I used to live right around the corner), but when I visit, I frequent this place as much as my pocket can handle. It rocks my world!!!
On my last visit my brother (who no longer lives in NJ) made me get a pie and bring it home for him, and I had a full days drive to get home. Needless to say, he didn't care. He just wanted his DeLorenzo's.
Get there early (around 4:30pm)... there's almost always a wait, but well worth it. There is NO BATHROOM, so use one before you come, but don't let that stop you from trying it out... you'll be missing out. And if you're looking to romance someone... this place is perfect... you can bring a bottle of wine with you - it's great. Just don't forget to savor the sweet taste. Yummm...... |

I've had pizza all over the country, and simply put nothing else comes close. I think I'm merely just confirming what the others have already said. The tomatos are lush, the crust slightly burned to perfection, the cheese is amazing. There is no bathroom, no menus, long lines and they only take cash. Why? Because they can. Bring your favorite lager and come early and prepare yourself for a treat. |

YES!
I only know the location at Hudson St. and I have to admit, a friend of mine (living close to Trenton) and I often visit did not overdo telling me this is one of the best Pizza/Tomato Pie places in the world.
The first visit there did convince me, so we always have to go there when I'm around.
In my opinion it's hard to find a place in Europe with a better quality (maybe at a family's table in Italy, but I would not expect it in a restaurant... but isn't DeLorenzos like being with family?) |

I'm from the 'burg and I now have a restaurant north of Pittsburg in Cook Forest. My inspiration was Chic Delorenzo and Gary Amico with my old friend Lenny. It was a privilege to just watch these guys work. Now as an executive chef and instructor I bow to most of the joints in the 'burg, and as far away as I am, I get people out here who know DeLorenzos, Rossis, and the like. Those who complain about pizzas being burnt don't know how to eat pizza. First of all it's Tomato Pie and it's supposed to be well done. That's how they like it in Pittsburgh too. (By the way they call Pittsburgh The Burg too, the nerve. I miss you Trenton).
Stop by Peoples Bakery and eat a cannoli for me, and have an italian ice for my daughter.
God bless the 'burg.
Its worth the wait, you will get hooked, don't complain about the facilities, and try to appreciate an old fashioned family business run with care, that uses the top quality products obtained from local merchants and is kept cleaner than any restaurant I've ever cooked in in this or any other country. |

I drive from Baltimore (home of the worst pies on the planet) on a semi-regular basis to get a fix. Perfect crust, delicious toppings, and one of a kind atmosphere. Bring a bottle of wine, and be prepared to wait. |
