Giovanni's Restaurant in Flemington, NJ. My husband and I went on a Wednesday night in July (his birthday) - and the place was pretty quiet. We asked if we could eat at the bar, and although they usually don't allow it, they made an exception for us since it wasn't busy. The owner, Dino, was a joy, as was the bartender, Pietro (you can call him Peter). They sang, they bickered, they conversed in Italian, it almost made you feel like you were in Italy.
The food was excellent - I had gnocchi and my husband had seafood over pasta - we started out with excellent bread with a sundried tomato cheese, bruschetta and fresh parmesan, appetizer special of crab stuffed scallops with a mustard sauce (amazing!) and finished with a lemony afterdinner drink and a piece of mascarpone cake with a candle in it. What a great experience!
Dino said the place is VERY busy on the weekends, so I highly recommend going during the week! |
