Horrid. Food terrible, service terrible, way overpriced.
Waited over half an hour for drinks. Drinks and (complimentary)bread ended up coming AFTER the ordered food. Asked waiter about it but received no appology whatsoever, just "oh, my busboy will bring it," "oh, my busboy is slow." Ordered angelhair pasta with lobster in a light creamy sauce. Dish had NO TASTE. Not enjoyable at all. A waste of a meal. |

We like Fontana's, but find their policy of a 19% automatic surcharge for parties of 8 or more disagreeable. We understand 15%, but 19% is excessive; if anything a large party is more profitable for both the restaurant and the server, and high-end mandatory gratuity is not very customer-friendly! |

Just found this web site. I believe Fontana's has another new Chef - Rick Ebster - background in Italian fine dining. I sit at the eating-bar, and the kitchen seems better. Awesome specials! |

For those who don't know, Fontana's recently hired a new chef, Matt Broucaret who worked for Thomas Keller at Bouchon (the informal end of the French Laundry). New American, Californian, all fresh and delicious. |
